The Finish Line is in Sight!
While pastoring in Kentucky, I became a fan of the Kentucky Derby. I loved it all—the hats, the southern pastels, the singing of “My Old Kentucky Home,” and the voice of Dave Johnson calling the race. I’d get chills when the horses rounded the final turn and he’d utter his famous catchphrase: “And down the stretch they come!”
The SCO District church year ends February 28, and we’re coming down the stretch! Here are three ways to finish well:
-
Receive new members who are prepared to join the church
-
Check Funding the Mission to ensure your denominational allocations are current
-
Complete your APR (Annual Pastors Report) on time – Kevin Angel will thank you!
District Zone Tour Coming
Mark your calendars! November 8-11, we’re bringing a Zone Tour to all four corners of the district with encouragement, inspiration, and practical resources for local church boards, treasurers, and NDI/NMI/NYI leaders. More details coming soon!
When to Call the DS
Recently someone asked, “When should I call the District Superintendent?” My answer: “Anytime!”
Feel especially free to reach out:
-
When something wonderful happens
-
When something difficult happens
-
When you need counsel, advice, or a sounding board
-
To invite me to visit or preach on Sunday morning (I’ve been blessed by steady invitations that have kept my calendar full 3-4 months in advance.)
As we approach the finish line of this church year, let’s finish strong together. Your faithful ministry—week in and week out—is making an eternal difference in lives across South Central Ohio and beyond. I’m honored to serve alongside you.

Weather Closures, Steady Commitments
Many of our district churches were unable to gather on January 25 due to severe weather conditions. Because weekly tithes and offerings are essential to sustaining their ministries, your continued financial support remains vital. Even when in‑person services must pause, your generosity helps your local church continue its work in the community. Thank you for your faithfulness!

DATE CHANGE
Due to unforeseen scheduling challenges, the NMI/NYI convention date has been moved from April 11 to April 18, 2026. We will once again gather at Circleville Heritage.
This gathering is deeply important to us. It is more than an event on the calendar—it is a time set apart to strengthen our shared commitment to missions and to intentionally invest in our youth. We believe there is great value in coming together as the body of Christ to encourage one another, celebrate what God is doing both locally and globally, and be renewed in our call to serve

SCO District Office Update: We’ve Officially Arrived!
What a milestone. Yesterday marked a major step forward as district staff and a group of dedicated volunteers helped move our office from Hoover Road in Grove City to our new home at the HHRC. The energy, teamwork, and generosity on display made the day truly special.
We’re deeply grateful to everyone who showed up, lifted boxes, organized supplies, and made the transition seamless.
There’s plenty to look forward to in the months ahead. An open house is on the horizon for this summer, and we can’t wait to welcome you into the new space.
