OUR HISTORY

The Church of the Nazarene exists to make disciples of all nations, as instituted by Jesus Christ in the Great Commission. With an aim to transform the world by spreading the aroma of Christ to a world in need of Him, we value scriptural holiness — Christlike living — and our calling to spread the Good News to the world.

Local congregations of the Church of the Nazarene are communities of faith who share the common thread of Jesus Christ. Within each unique body, you will find opportunities to establish and deepen your relationship with Jesus; serve and minister to your community; fellowship with others and worship your Creator.

With 68 congregations and various multi-site campuses throughout central and southeast Ohio, our mission begins here and reaches around the globe. When you join us in this mission and fellowship, you, too, become a part of the greater mission of the Church of the Nazarene.

DENOMINATION

Worldwide, the Church of the Nazarene is the largest denomination in the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition. It is unique in its belief in the doctrine of entire sanctification — that by an act of God, Christians can be transformed into the holy likeness of Christ, purified from original sin and, through the work of the Holy Spirit, wholly devoted to God and filled with love for Him and His people.

DISTRICT SUPERINTENDANT

Our district welcomes people in many languages and from diverse settings, but we strive to be a healthy expression of the Body of Christ. We often refer to ourselves as the “SCO Family,” and we have our arms open wide. We’d love to hear from you or connect with you whether you’re searching for a district calendar, trying to find a local church, or just curious about our ministries. We believe that the South Central Ohio District exists in service to the churches that make up our boundaries and beyond. In other words, we are here to serve Nazarene pastors, churches, and the communities where they exist in the name of Jesus.
