Clippings from the Barber’s Chair

I love the emphasis of The Big Serve coming up April 19-21. I have heard so many exciting plans describing how our SCO congregations are preparing to love their neighbors in Jesus’ name. We are attempting to collect some of those plans now.

Pastor, if you haven’t done so yet, Please place your information in the form by clicking here: This will help us as we send this story on to news outlets and our own Holiness Today. Don’t forget to snap some photos of your group serving as well and upload them to the link we have provided in this email recently. This is the first time the MVNU Field Nazarenes have ever tried something like this. Let’s do it well!

I love the name “Big Serve” because it encompasses all that we are attempting in this project. Nazarenes from 3 states are preparing to love on their communities! That is big! Don’t forget, however, that it will be the small acts of kindness that mean the most to those you encounter. This weekend is an opportunity to undo so much “church hurt” that exists in our world. Between now and this weekend, get in touch with God and ask his Spirit to so fill you that what you say and do will accurately reflect his image in you.

On April 16, pastors, and leaders from across the MVNU Field will join together in a Prayer Meeting. It should be amazing! Here is the Link to the Zoom:  April 16, Join in for a Prayer Zoom Meeting  at 7pm! We are convinced that this idea has God’s fingerprints on it. We will simply be asking God to bless what he began!

Finally, bear in mind that as you serve this weekend, it is more than a “one and done.” Let this weekend be the beginning of some relationships with people and organizations that can move the Kingdom of God forward. Love well. Serve well. Smile and be cooperative. Let the light of Christ shine through you! Jesus said, “…just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45, NIV) You have a golden opportunity to embody serving in Jesus’ name.

I can’t wait to hear your stories when the weekend ends. God bless you all! I’m praying for you.

-Sam
