In the Church of the Nazarene, we are called to be a connected people—united in mission, faith, and generosity. One of the most tangible ways we express that unity is through our participation in denominational allocations. These vital contributions—such as giving to the World Evangelism Fund (WEF), Mount Vernon Nazarene University, Nazarene Pensions, and the South Central Ohio District—are more than financial transactions. They are acts of faith that create lasting kingdom impact.
The World Evangelism Fund (WEF) is the lifeline of global missions in the Church of the Nazarene. Every gift supports missionaries, church planting, compassionate ministries, and leadership development in 165 world areas. When we give to WEF, we are not just supporting others—we are joining them. We become partners in bringing the good news of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth. Churches on the SCO District gave $1,000,000 for WEF last year!
Closer to home, Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) plays a critical role in preparing future leaders for both ministry and the marketplace. Supporting MVNU ensures that students are formed spiritually and intellectually in a Christ-centered environment. Our giving helps provide scholarships, strengthen academic programs, and nurture the next generation of pastors, educators, and compassionate professionals.
Our contributions to Nazarene Pensions honor those who have faithfully served the Church. These resources provide stability and care for retired ministers and church workers who have dedicated their lives to ministry. By giving, we affirm that their service has not been forgotten and demonstrate the love of Christ in action.
Additionally, giving to the South Central Ohio District enables strategic ministry across the eighteen counties that make up our district. District funds allow us to start churches, strengthen churches, and develop leaders. They also provide support for discipleship, youth and children’s ministries, missions, and more. The local church benefits directly as resources are reinvested into the ministries that shape our communities.
When we give together, synergy is created—a powerful dynamic where the whole becomes greater than the sum of its parts. One church alone can only do so much, but together we can launch missionaries, educate leaders, care for our pastors, and impact an entire region for Christ. Our collective generosity creates a ripple effect that reaches far beyond what any individual congregation could accomplish on its own.
In a world often marked by scarcity and individualism, the Church stands as a beacon of shared mission and mutual support. May we continue to give faithfully and generously, trusting that God will multiply our gifts for His glory.
I want to thank every church, and every pastor, for your faithful generosity.
Eddie Estep,
SCO District Superintendent
