Anticipation

A question I often ask Diane is, “What are you looking forward to?” Many years ago, I committed to making sure that she always has something to anticipate – a trip, an event, or fun experience. That question has served us well over the years and helped us live in a state of eager expectation.

What are you looking forward to?

Here are some things I’m looking forward to:

The annual SCO Christmas Banquet: Monday, December 2, at The Naz in Grove City at 7 PM.  When I was informed of the date and location of this event, it brought on a big smile. Diane lives for Christmas, and this will be a special night. (Registration will be available in the next newsletter).

SCO District Assembly: April 27-28, 2025. Dr. Fili Chambo is our Jurisdictional General Superintendent, and we look forward to welcoming him back to South Central Ohio.

SCO Camp Meeting: June 6-13, 2025. Growing up, I spent time each summer at a Nazarene camp, was called to preach at a Nazarene camp and ordained at a Nazarene camp. I look forward to spending time with you at our SCO Nazarene Camp Meeting at Hocking Hills Retreat Center.

Next year’s Pastors and Spouses Retreat will be in held Amish Country, October 3-5, 2025. In the survey we distributed after this year’s retreat, 70% of pastors who responded indicated Amish Country as the desired destination. (We are presently negotiating a contract to return to Carlisle Inn.)

I’m enjoying Coffee & Conversations with district pastors. So far, I’ve met with pastors on four of our ten Zones and will meet with the remaining six zones in November.

Diane and I are in Africa (South Africa and Mozambique), October 21-31. We’re joining the other DSs and spouses from the MVNU Region, as well as leaders from MVNU and the Africa Region. The trip has been designed as an opportunity to see the impact of World Evangelism Fund giving, to have intentional and missional conversations among leaders, and to develop strategic partnerships.

Looking forward!

Eddie Estep

District Superintendent
