ReTool Road Trips: Detour Ahead”
I drive a lot as a superintendent and one of the most frustrating signs I encounter is, “Detour Ahead.” Sometimes my GPS alerts me in advance. Other times I have to figure it out on my own. If you know me and my sense of direction, you’re probably laughing at the prospect of me finding my own detour.
A week ago I let you know of my recent election as Director of NDI for our denomination. If you were making plans for the “ReTool Road Trips” announced at district assembly, you might be expecting that there is a “detour ahead.”
In light of the fact that my responsibilities officially begin August 1, we are now planning only one ReTool Road Trip for Saturday, July 20th , at Logan Nazarene. During this time we will update you all on the plans for the DS transition as much as we can at that point. We will also describe how the SCO District Staff is available to assist you in the interim, and I will take the opportunity to have one final time with all of you as your DS.
Though the plan is a bit different, I’m hopeful that you can make it so that we can share this time together. We will begin at 10 AM and proceed through lunch which will be provided. If you do plan to attend, we need you to sign up on the link that will be provided so that we can make plans for lunch. Pastors, Staff Pastors, Church Board Members, or Leadership Teams are all invited.
One thing we can learn from a detour, though it can be inconvenient, we always find our way, and sometimes we discover something we never would have seen had it not been for the detour. Let’s approach this “SCO detour” in the same way. It’s not what we had planned, but we know God will see us through and who knows, we may discover something wonderful on the journey.
Trusting God with you for the twists and turns of life,
-Sam
